5 Best American Car Brands

O say can you see, by the car's awesome...motor? Forgive us for the improvised star-spangled banner automotive remix, but today's blog is all about American car brands.

American car manufacturing has faced a lot of stiff competition over the years, including arguably more efficient and cheaper motors from the east flooding the domestic market.

But, like many American cultural staples, key car brands have persevered. A lot of the reason why comes down to muscle cars in particular, wherein a lot of huge American car brands made their name.

For this week's Rear View Prints blog, we decided to pick the 5 best American car brands in automotive history. Remember to leave a comment down below on whether you agree with the choices or not.

Ford

Ford

We may as well start with the big daddy, right? Absolutely no one else in American car manufacturing matches Ford for its influence, power, and all-around prestigious reputation.

In a list of the best American car brands, it is without a doubt the best. Henry Ford is known as the godfather of the American automobile for good reason. Ford is responsible for the Model T, Mustang, and Thunderbird, to name a few iconic vehicles.

Chevrolet

Chevrolet

Chevrolet, or Chevy for short, has been around since 1911 and is a huge name in American muscle car culture.

It was founded by a Swiss race car driver named Louis Chevrolet with the backing of ousted GM chairman William Durant. It's responsible for famous cars like the Camaro, Corvette, and a line of pick-up trucks. A lot of these vehicles still get widespread use today in 2021, with a lot of American citizens owning the cars as a tribute to a rich strand of United States history.

Dodge

Dodge

It's hard to believe an American car brand as badass as Dodge came from something as pedestrian as a bicycle. But it's true!

The famous Dodge brothers John and Horace started out making bicycles in Canada, and then even more weirdly, moved on to making mechanical parts for stove. But, from humble beginnings to great legacies; eventually Dodge became known for iconic cars such as the Charger, Challenger, and the more recent Viper.

Jeep

Jeep

Go anywhere. Do anything. That was the original bold slogan of Jeep which it still lives up to today. The original Jeep was a vehicle designed specifically for the military, called the Willys-Overland.

It played a pivotal part for the Americans in World War II, providing safe transport across rough and rugged terrain. Since then, Jeep has become a household name in America manufacturing classics like the Cherokee, Wrangler, and many more. An easy choice to feature on a list of best American car brands.

Tesla

Tesla

This may be the most controversial entry on the list, but hear us out. Tesla have innovated the automobile industry much like the titans before them. They deserve to be recognised alongside your Ford's and Chevy's as a truly iconic all-American brand.

Founded in the early 2000s, Tesla set out to be the first car company to truly invest in sustainable driving and energy, switching from petroleum powered vehicles to electric. In 2021, Tesla is still only just finding its feet as the global automotive industry transitions into electric powered motors, but already it's become a household name manufacturing the Model S and X.
